SUSTAINABILITY
At SOKEN, our love for the planet is at the heart of everything we do.
We’re deeply committed to reducing our environmental footprint and challenging the norms of the fashion industry.
During our research, we uncovered a staggering truth: the global fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the world’s annual carbon emissions. Even closer to home, in Australia alone, 6,000 kilograms of clothing are discarded every 10 minutes, destined for landfill. These numbers aren’t just statistics, they’re a call to action.
That moment sparked a profound realisation for us: we have a responsibility. A responsibility to offer fashion that’s not only affordable but also sustainable. This is where SOKEN’s vision was born, to revolutionise the way people think about hiring fashion.
By encouraging customers to rent rather than buy, we reduce the demand for new production. Every dress hired is one less item manufactured, one less strain on our planet’s resources. Less production means less fossil fuel consumption, less water usage, and less waste.
As a young and passionate company, we’re constantly seeking innovative ways to push boundaries and embrace the complex challenges of sustainability. We don’t claim to have all the answers, but we’re committed to asking the right questions and evolving with purpose.
Together, we can reshape fashion into a force for good.
